Purpose
This Society recognizes the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and their potential impact on research, publication, and academic activities. This policy establishes general principles governing the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI tools in all activities related to the Society.
Scope
This policy applies to authors, reviewers, editors, committee members, and any individuals engaged in activities conducted under the auspices of the Society, including but not limited to manuscript preparation, peer review, editorial processes, and conference activities.
Use of AI by Authors
Authors may use AI tools for purposes such as language editing, grammar correction, formatting assistance, or idea organization. However, AI tools must not be listed as authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for the content. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of all submitted work, regardless of the extent of AI assistance used. Where AI tools have made a substantive contribution to the preparation of a manuscript, such use must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript.
Use of AI in Peer Review and Editorial Processes
Reviewers and editors must not upload unpublished manuscripts, confidential data, or proprietary information into AI systems unless explicit permission has been granted and confidentiality can be assured. AI tools must not replace independent scholarly judgment in peer review or editorial decision-making. All evaluations and decisions must be made by qualified human experts.
Academic Integrity and Originality
The use of AI must not result in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data or sources. Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated content, including references and factual statements. Any misuse of AI that compromises academic integrity will be handled in accordance with the Society’s ethical guidelines and applicable regulations.
Transparency and Disclosure
Transparency in the use of AI is essential. When AI tools are used in a manner that materially affects the content, structure, or interpretation of scholarly work, appropriate disclosure must be provided. Failure to disclose significant AI involvement may constitute a breach of ethical standards.
Policy Review
Given the evolving nature of AI technologies, this policy will be periodically reviewed and updated as necessary to reflect technological, ethical, and regulatory developments.
