History
In 2025, our society celebrated its 15th anniversary. Over the years, we have launched three academic journals, and AJHS, the journal established at the founding of the society, is now indexed in Scopus. The number of submissions to our journals and participants in our conferences continues to grow each year, and we remain committed to further development as we take on new challenges.
Our Journey So Far
2010
Establishment of the Asia Human Service Study Group, the predecessor of the Asian Society of Human Services (Saga, Japan)
2011 | 1st
Official establishment of the Asian Society of Human Services.
Launch of the first official society journal, the Asian Journal of Human Services(AJHS) Vol.1.
The 1st ASHS Congress was held in Seoul, South Korea, as the society’s inaugural conference.
2012 | 2nd
AJHS adopted a biannual publication schedule and published Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.
The 2nd ASHS Congress was held in Okinawa, Japan.
2013 | 3rd
AJHS published Vol. 4 and Vol. 5.
The 3rd ASHS Congress was held in Busan, South Korea.
2014 | 4th
The society launched its second journal, Total Rehabilitation Research(TRR) Vol.1.
AJHS published Vol. 6 and Vol. 7.
The 4th ASHS Congress was held in Sapporo, Japan.
2015 | 5th
AJHS published Vol. 8 and Vol. 9, and TRR published Vol. 2.
The 5th ASHS Congress was held in Seoul, South Korea.
The 1st Asian Research Conference of Human Services Innovation (ARCHI) was held as a platform for early-career researchers to present emerging studies.
2016 | 6th
The society launched its third journal, the Journal of Inclusive Education (JIE) Vol.1.
AJHS published Vol. 10 and Vol. 11, and TRR published Vol. 3.
The 6th ASHS Congress was held in Fukuoka, Japan, and the 2nd ARCHI was also convened.
Registered as a General Incorporated Association with its office located in Japan.
2017 | 7th
TRR and JIE adopted a biannual publication schedule.
AJHS published Vol. 12 and Vol. 13, TRR published Vol. 4 and Vol. 5, and JIE published Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.
The 7th ASHS Congress was held in Busan, South Korea.
2018 | 8th
AJHS published Vol. 14 and Vol. 15, TRR published Vol. 6, and JIE published Vol. 4 and Vol. 5.
The annual publication frequency of TRR was changed to one issue per year.
The 8th ASHS Congress was held in Kyoto, Japan, and the 3rd ARCHI was also convened.
2019 | 9th
AJHS published Vol. 16 and Vol. 17, TRR published Vol. 7, and JIE published Vol. 6 and Vol. 7.
The 9th ASHS Congress was held in Jeju, South Korea.
2020 | 10th
AJHS published Vol. 18 and Vol. 19, TRR published Vol. 8, and JIE published Vol. 8 and Vol. 9.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Conference was not held for the first time since the society’s establishment.
2021 | 11th
AJHS published Vol. 20 and Vol. 21, TRR published Vol. 9, and JIE published Vol. 10.
The annual publication frequency of JIE was changed to one issue per year.
To adapt to societal changes, the 10th commemorative ASHS Conference was held for the first time in a hybrid format, combining online and in-person participation (venue: Shimonoseki, Japan).
2022 | 12th
AJHS published Vol. 22 and Vol. 23, TRR published Vol. 10, and JIE published Vol. 11.
The 11th ASHS Congress was held in a hybrid format—online and in-person—from Shimonoseki, Japan, as in the previous year.
2023 | 13th
As the global recognition of AJHS increased, the journal began implementing Editorial Manager® as its submission and peer-review system.
At the same time, AJHS successfully passed the evaluation process for Scopus® and was approved for indexing.
AJHS published Vol. 24 and Vol. 25, TRR published Vol. 11, and JIE published Vol. 12.
The 12th ASHS Congress was held in Seoul, South Korea, marking the first fully on-site meeting in two years. The event drew strong support and sponsorship, and more than 100 participants attended.
2024 | 14th
AJHS published Vol. 26 and Vol. 27, TRR published Vol. 12, and JIE published Vol. 13.
The 13th ASHS Congress was held in Hiroshima, Japan, where thematic section were introduced for the first time.
2025 | 15th
AJHS published Vol. 28 and Vol. 29, TRR published Vol. 13, and JIE published Vol. 14.
The 14th ASHS Congress was held in Seoul, South Korea, where, in addition to two thematic sections, demonstration booths were introduced to showcase research-related systems.
