Publication fees & Revenue Sources

Publication fees

All articles are open access and freely available online, immediately upon publication. This is possible by an article-processing charge (APC) that covers the range of publishing services we provide. The APC, payable when your final manuscript is editorially accepted and after publication, is charged to the corresponding author. As the corresponding author of the manuscript, you are responsible for making or arranging the payment upon editorial acceptance of the manuscript. The publication fees for JIE are 20,000 JPY per article (Tax excluded). Publications from foreign countries will be converted by the exchange rate on the specified date. Payment is due within 30 days of the manuscript receiving editorial acceptance. Quotation, invoice and delivery slip will be emailed to the corresponding author.

Revenue sources

The JIE is a self-financed journal. Article publication charges levied to authors is the only source of income which is utilized in maintaining the administrative cost. Operating expense including the cost of holding an academic conference, web presence, and staff salaries is supported by the APC.
