Articles of Association of Asian Society of Human Services

Chapter 1. General Provisions

 

Article 1 (Name). This Articles of Association was made for the Asian Society of Human Services (hereafter, “ASHS”).

 

Article 2 (Purposes). As an international academic society covering the fields of human services, including social services, medicine and nursing, clinical psychology and education, and family support modalities like childcare, etc., ASHS aims to contribute to the improvement and development of human services in Asia through scientific researches and practices by researchers from many countries, centering on South Korea and Japan.

 

Article 3 (Location). The principal offices of ASHS are located in both South Korea and Japan. Subject to the agreement of the Board of Committee, the principal office shall be located in a country other than South Korea and Japan.

 

Article 4 (Programs). ASHS shall carry out the following programs to accomplish the purposes stipulated in Article 2:
1. regular international conference (twice a year);
2. regular publication and distribution of journals;
A. Asian Journal of Human Services (online edition: ISSN 2188-059X; print edition: ISSN 2186-3350): twice a year, on April 30 and October 30
B. Total Rehabilitation Research (online edition: ISSN 2189-4957; print edition: ISSN 2188-1855): once a year, on June 30
C. Journal of Inclusive Education (online edition: ISSN 2189-9185): once a year, on August 30
3. suggesting policies related to human services, international collaborative activities, and scholarship program;
4. joint international research, industry-university cooperation research, and government-university research in the fields of human services;
5. conferment of academic awards to researchers who have contributed to the development of human services;
6. cultivation of competent persons through international collaboration (implementation of an international license system, etc.); and
7. other programs that match the purposes of ASHS.

 

Chapter 2. Membership

 

Article 5 (Membership). The membership shall be divided into full members, associate members, and organization members, and below are the qualifications for such.
1. Full member
A. One who has completed the online registration process at the ASHS website
B. One who has acquired a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree in any of the fields of human services
C. One who has conducted scientific studies and/or practiced human services

2. Associate member
A. One who has completed the online registration process at the ASHS website
B. One who is interested in human services, and who is attending graduate school

3. Organization member
A corporation or organization that embraces the purposes of ASHS

 

Article 6 (Rights and Duties of the Members). The members of ASHS shall have the rights and duties stated below.

1. The members of ASHS may submit and publish articles to/at Asian Journal of Human Services, which is published twice a year, and Total Rehabilitation Research and Journal of Inclusive Education, which are published once a year.
2. The members of ASHS may present their research outcomes in all the programs, such as the regular conference, and may present these in the meetings for reading research papers.
3. All the members are entitled to be provided with diverse information and publications.

 

Chapter 3. Executive Members

 

Article 7-1 (Organization of Executive Members). The executive members consist of the chairpersons (one from South Korea and one from Japan), vice chairperson, board members, executive secretary, and editors-in-chief.

 

Article 7-2 (Executive Office).
1. The Executive Office shall be established to implement the programs of ASHS.
2. All the businesses of the Executive Office shall be managed by the executive secretary, and the executive secretary shall become an ex-officio board member.
3. The executive secretary shall be selected from among the members of the Board of Directors based on the recommendations of the chairpersons in South Korea and Japan.
4. The term of the executive secretary shall not be specified, but if two-thirds of the Board of Directors agree, the executive secretary may be dismissed from his or her post based on the motion of the chairpersons of both South Korea and Japan.
5. The executive secretary may select more than one vice executive secretary, office staff, and other members and may install sub-organizations under executive office and select staff for it.
6. The executive secretary may determine the selection, term, and dismissal of the vice executive secretary, office staff, and other members of the Executive Office.

 

Article 8 (Appointment of Executive Members).
1. The chairpersons shall be elected from among the members of the Board of Directors based on the recommendations of the Executive Office.
2. The vice chairpersons shall be determined by the Board of Directors based on the recommendations of the Executive Office, and more than one vice chairperson may be selected.
3. The members of the Board of Directors shall be selected by the Committee for the Appointment of the Board of Directors, based on the recommendations of the Executive Office. The Committee for the Appointment of the Board of Directors shall be composed of the chairpersons, vice chairpersons, executive secretary, and editors-in-chief.
4. The editors-in-chief shall be appointed by the chairpersons based on the recommendations of the executive secretary.

 

Article 9 (Term of the Executive Members).
1. The term of the chairpersons is not specified but may be subject to the conditions of each country.
2. The term of the vice chairpersons is not specified but may be subject to the conditions of each country.
3. The term of the members of the Board of Directors is not specified, but such members may be dismissed based on the evaluation of their activities by the Committee for the Appointment of the Board of Directors.
4. The term of the editors-in-chief shall be determined according to the Rule of the Editorial Board, and he or she may be dismissed by the chairpersons based on the evaluation of their performances.

 

Article 10 (Editorial Board).
1. The Editorial Boards shall be established for the publication of the academic journals of ASHS.
2. The Editorial Boards shall be established as follows:
A. the Editorial Board of Asian Journal of Human Services;
B. the Editorial Board of Total Rehabilitation Research; and
C. the Editorial Board of Journal Inclusive Education.
3. Editors-in-chief specializing in the fields covered by the journals shall be appointed regardless of their nationality, and may determine the appointment and dismissal of editors.
4. Each journal may formulate it own rules for its Editorial Board.

 

Addenda
1. This Articles of Association shall take effect beginning on September 1, 2011.
2. The amended Articles of Association shall take effect beginning on May 24, 2016.
